We understand that all students learn differently and have different academic and social emotional needs to be successful in school. At Hedke, our teachers and staff work diligently to meet the needs of all students to maximize their growth and achievement, both academically and socially.

Through our MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) process, we ensure all students have access to high-quality, tier one instruction consisting of research based instructional practices using a curriculum that aligns with our state standards. Embedded into tier one instruction is small group work during math and reading workshops that allow teachers to provide the necessary individualized support students need. Some students may need additional support beyond the classroom and will receive tier two or three interventions that provide targeted small group or individualized instruction to increase achievement and reduce the risk of falling behind grade level. This support occurs daily during our WIN (What I Need) time block at all grade levels.

Hedke is a proud PBIS school focusing on positive behavioral support, supporting our learner’s behavioral and social emotional needs. At Hedke, we teach our students the importance of and how to be safe, respectful and responsible. Students can earn “Bulldog Bucks” for school appropriate behavior that can be traded for small incentives. If a student is struggling with any aspect of our PBIS framework, we have several interventions in place to help get children back on track for success. We take great pride in creating a safe, friendly and accepting environment for all of our students.

We work hard to build strong relationships with our families so that we can work as partners in your child’s education. We invite you to be part of our school community by attending our monthly PTO meetings, serving as a Watch D.O.G. (dad of a great student), volunteer for classroom and school-wide events, and more. Together, we can accomplish much more to help your child succeed.

Safety is our number one priority at Hedke Elementary School. All visitors to the building must have background checks and all doors remain locked throughout the day. It is important that each student feels safe at Hedke, and therefore, we do not tolerate any form of bullying. We utilize restorative practices to resolve student conflicts. This method holds students accountable for their actions and allows the harm caused for another student to be repaired. It not only reteaches and re-enforces our expectations, but allows students to learn the process of resolving conflict on their own.

Hedke Elementary School is a public, comprehensive school, grades Young 5 to 5th.  Annual enrollment is approximately 600 students. 

Accreditation: We are accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges and Accreditation by Advanced Ed.

Faculty is 100% Highly Qualified and most have a Masters Degree or higher.
